PROJECT BRIEF

With a brief to have many elements within the front and rear yards that do not feel overwhelming and the inclusion of earthworks to create more usable spaces, Hills Classic Gardens has nailed the brief and delivered an expansive, beautiful landscape filled with a variety of hard and soft landscaping.

A main feature throughout the project is the use of stone, hand selected from a nearby quarry, and recycled hardwood timber for retaining walls, boardwalks, pathways and stairways. The hardwood timber boardwalks were inspired by the materials use in Tasmanian National Parks. Some structural elements within the front and rear yards include timber screening, an open roofed pergola, a chicken shed, wood fired oven, and ornaments, artworks and bespoke pieces that create focal points within the landscape or act as support for ornamental trees.

Hidden cabling and infrastructures help run the extensive lighting system that powers over 175 lights within the front and rear yards. As well, an irrigation system is in place and outdoor sound system for entertaining. An array of plant life is on site that ranges from flowers, ornamental trees, mature trees, hedging and lawn space. The diverse plantings demonstrate different species growing together within separate microenvironments.
